TS&LC Racketball Club Championships 2024
A thrilling competition unfolded 2 weeks ago at TSLC, featuring 16 of our best players vying for the coveted title of Truro Champion. Racketball has exploded in popularity in recent years, and this was clearly reflected in the quality of play and the caliber of the rallies.
A new format was introduced this year, with four boxes and best-of-three matches, ensuring multiple games for all participants. This format was particularly popular with the younger players and presented a great challenge for the slightly older generation!
The tournament saw several closely contested matches, mostly following the seeding forecasts, with all top four seeds battling through to the semi-finals. In the first semi-final, there was a clash of the young talents between Lewis Vinten (club squash champion) and Myles Roberts, with Lewis taking the win and making it to another final. The second semi-final featured a fantastic battle of the masters, and in a very tight match, Mark Campen-Howarth narrowly defeated club chair Neil Counter in a tie-break second game!
The final was a fast-paced, rugged, and nail-biting encounter. The first game was very close and went to Mark, 11-9. Mark's explosive movement and agility initially gave him the edge, while Lewis fought valiantly in both games, making the contest extremely close and exciting for all the spectators. In the end, Mark edged out the young contender, winning 11-9 in the second game as well, securing a well-deserved club title!
Overall, it was a massively successful event, thoroughly enjoyed by all!
